Truagh Development Association’s “Great Monaghan Food Writing Competition for School Children”
“To mark the success of our Hot School Lunch Service, Truagh Development Association is launching a competition for all six participating national schools: The Billis, Knockconan, St Patrick’s Clara, St Dympna’s Tydavnet, St Mary’s Glaslough and Edenmore.
The theme is “good food and creativity”, explained Fiona McCaffrey Jones, Manager of TDA’s Truagh based Community Services Programme.
“We want to find out what our children really love to eat and why. We ask that the children write a short piece (5 lines) about their favourite food and why they love it so much and accompany it with a drawing or photograph of this meal.”
“We are so excited to start receiving the entries and are delighted to have local artist Mary Scott as our guest judge. Spot prizes have been kindly donated by local businesses, including Silver Hill, Hollands of Emyvale, McMahons Spar, Centra Emyvale and The Garage Theatre.
