Future Plans Rural Enterprise and Digital Hub


The new Rural Enterprise and Digital Hub will compliment all of the pre-existing services thereby creating an intergenerational focused circular economy model for the north Monaghan area with remote working, corporate facilities and training co located with a national school, childcare centre, facilities for older people and catering facilities.

Monaghan County Council and Truagh Spirit plan to build a new carbon neutral Rural Enterprise and Digital Hub, part single storey, part two storey comprising remote working facilities, BCPs, commercial kitchen, training rooms, meeting rooms, conference spaces, exhibition space, craft shop, café, multi-purpose space, biodiversity garden and access to river walk offices and staff facilities.

Also 3 charging points for electric vehicles, car parking, external landscaping, retaining structures, lamp standards, wastewater treatment plant with percolation area and all associated site works.

TDA identified SEAIs EXEED certified Grant process as the best tool to ensure the building will be carbon neutral.  During the course of the build, TDA, will plant 10,000 trees in the Millennium Forest and along the local river-walk to further offset the new build.

The facility will extend to 813 sq m to include;

  • Ground floor area of 558 sq m and first floor of 255 sq m.
  • 126 sq m Commercial kitchen, larder, store rooms and staff changing rooms
  • Loading bay to accommodate deliveries to kitchen
  • Café/Craft Shop/Farm Shop /Exhibition space 47 sq m
  • Large 100 sq m multi-function space which can function as conference space or by moveable walls breakdown into 3 smaller spaces.
  • 2 Training rooms, combined floor space 73 sq m.
  • IT suite for training, e-learning and teleconferencing 36 sq m
  • 7 Offices, floor space 62 sq m for rent/hot desking/remote working
  • Reception area
  • Management office and general office
  • Meeting room

In addition the facility shall have:

  • car parking spaces
  • Lift from foyer to second storey
  • 3 x EV charging points
  • Heating and cooking provided by Bio Gas
  • x toilets
  • 1 x wheelchair access toilet
